Mastering the guitar is hard.
First of all, what does “mastering the guitar” even mean? I've been teaching guitar for two decades and I still don't know. I would suggest it means something different to everyone.
You are truly unique. No one likes exactly the same music. No one has exactly the same goals. So you shouldn’t learn exactly the same as everyone else. Focus only on what gets you closer to your personal holy grail of guitar playing.
Improve Constantly.
Avoid those annoying plateaus and grow your skills consistently.
Avoid Frustration.
Get your questions answered mid-week, before your weekly sessions.
Focus On You.
Lessons are tailored specifically to you. That means your favorite songs, styles and goals.
Dru Davis is an excellent teacher, one of the best I've ever had. He helped lay the foundations for my life long obsession with music. No matter how much experience you have, Dru will help you unlock that next level in your playing
Colton Cox
Dru does a really wonderful job at gearing your lessons towards what you want to focus on. He is a wonderful artist in all regards, so if you're hoping to also sing and play, he's great for that too. Highly, highly recommend!
Liz Schoenthaler
I took lessons from Dru for years in college. Can’t really thank him enough for how much he helped me develop as a player!
Howard Mahan
Dru has been teaching my son guitar for several years. He is methodical yet fun in his approach. My son loves his lessons and has come so far in his skills!

Hi, I'm Dru Davis
I've been helping people play guitar for 20 years.
My students, many of whom started from scratch, have gone on to perform at live shows, join their church's worship team, write songs, and record albums.
I've done a lot of performing as well. You can check out my music on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you stream music.

Why do you do lessons over Zoom? The first reason is simple - I live in Kansas City, and you might not. Doing lessons over Zoom lets us meet while we’re nowhere near each other. Apart from that, there are other benefits we enjoy. Convenience. You don’t need to budget travel time, since you can meet from anywhere. Recording. We can easily record parts of our sessions to use as practice tracks or reminders. Augmented reality. We can easily illustrate concepts and techniques by using graphics on screen. Bad Weather & Sick Days. Zoom lessons are much less likely to be canceled.

What do I need to start?A Guitar and a fast internet connection. That’s it! How fast should your internet be? For best experience, you want 3.8 mbps download and 3.0 mbps upload. If your connection is slower, it will most likely still work, but you won’t get crystal clear video and audio. If you don’t know your internet speed, Google the words “speed test” and click on the first button.

How much do lessons cost?I charge $150 per month. Most months you will have four 30-minute weekly sessions. Some months you will have five, but fees do not change. You will also have access to me throughout the week to get any midweek questions answered as you practice.

Do you offer any specials/discountsYes, I do! First of all, I offer one free session so you can try it out cost-free. I also have a referral program. If you are a current student and you refer a friend who signs up for guitar lessons, your next month is on me. You can do this as many times as you like. Just make sure the new student tells me you referred them before they start their first month.

How much do I need to practice?Ideally, 30 minutes every day. It’s the every day part that’s most important. Consistency is key. You will see better results playing 10 minutes each day than 90 minutes only one day per week.
